Sofa Emporium: Comfort, Style and Personal Service

Choosing a new sofa means balancing several things: how it feels, how it looks, whether it fits and when it can arrive. At Sofa Emporium, our team can help you work through those questions, whether you visit us in person or shop from home.

With showrooms in Retford and Dinnington and delivery available further afield, we bring personal advice to customers looking for furniture that suits their everyday lives.

Start with the comfort you enjoy

Comfort is personal. You may prefer a firmer seat with a higher back, a deeper sofa for curling up or reclining seats for putting your feet up.

If you visit a showroom, take time to sit in your usual position and compare different designs. Try more than one seat, check the armrests and ask to see any reclining features demonstrated.

If you’re shopping from home, tell us what you like about your current sofa and what you would change. We can discuss dimensions, cushion construction and the features of the models you’re considering.

Our guide to choosing a sofa for your living room and lifestyle is a useful starting point for narrowing down your options.

Find a style that works in your home

Bring photographs of your room, along with measurements and any colours or materials you have in mind. These give us a clearer picture of what you’re looking for.

Compare the shape of the arms, the height of the back and the upholstery as well as the overall size. Ask about the care requirements of the exact fabric or leather you like, and whether a swatch is available to view at home.

You can browse our sofa and furniture collections before getting in touch. If you want to try a particular model or material, check with the showroom before travelling.

Need your sofa by a particular date?

Let us know your preferred timeframe at the start of the conversation. We can check the current availability and estimated delivery timing for the exact model, colour and configuration you want.

An in-stock sofa and one being made or ordered for you may have different timescales. Availability can also vary between versions of the same design, so confirm the details before placing your order.

If you’re replacing existing seating, check the delivery arrangements before booking its removal. An estimated arrival date should not be treated as a confirmed delivery appointment.

Delivery beyond our showrooms

You don’t need to live near Retford or Dinnington to shop with Sofa Emporium.

Our delivery service across England and Wales includes room-of-choice delivery where access and circumstances allow. Selected Scottish postcodes can also be covered, subject to confirmation and additional charges.

Tell us your postcode and any access details, including stairs, narrow entrances or parking restrictions. We can discuss the arrangements and any applicable charges before you order.

Personal help with the details

As an independent, family-run retailer, we want you to have time to compare your options and ask questions.

Our article on what makes Sofa Emporium different explains more about our approach. For a practical checklist of the details to confirm, from upholstery to delivery access, see our sofa buying guide.
